Are alcoholic beverages permitted on a flight?
I am on vacation in Mexico and leaving back to the U.S. a week from tomorrow. I want to take back a few bottles of tequila, but I'm not sure if i will be allowed to take them on the plane. I'm flying with Volaris Airlines (a Mexican airline) to Oakland, Ca. Would i be able to take a few bottles home with me? If so, how many?

A few bottles...no. One or two bottles, yes. There is a duty free limit on the amount of alcohol you can bring into the USA. I believe it is two bottles. You can carry more, but you would have to declare it and pay duty when you enter the USA. Now here is the tricky part. If you buy the booze before you get to the airport, you need to put it in your checked baggage; you cannot take it on the plane as carry-on. If you buy it at duty free, after you cleared customs in Mexico, then you can take it on the plane. If you are going to connect to another flight in the USA, it must go in your checked luggage, as the 3 ounce rule will then apply. Good Luck and have a great time in Mexico.
