What is it like to be a flight attendant?
What is it like to be a flight attendant what are the requirements? I am 15 and either want to be a flight attendant or mortican weird huh? But anyway I love to travel can lift 50 + pound suitcases my mom packs a lot of crap. And I am a nice friendly person. PS: I flew southwest and when we booked the flight from {PHL) to OAKLAND CA it said nonstop but actually when we got on the flight we had to layover at midway which is fine cuz I am from chicago but still whats the point. Some airlines make you fly to Orlando lets say from philly just to get to okland does that make sense? Custumers are paying people therfore airlines should stop hoping its saving them money whats next charging for the bathroom oh I am sorry 50 cents please. Or even charging for a seatbelt can a 737-300 fly nonstop from PHL to OAK last time I checked it has 3 fuel tanks I think thats more then enough fuel.

Well I'm not a flight attendant so I can't tell you the answer to the first part of your question, but I really want to become one before going as an airline pilot, because I hear it's a pretty exceptional career. But,I do have the answer to the second part of your question. When you traveled from PHL to OAK, you had a layover at MDW because it is one of Southwest's focus cities. (but OAK is also a Southwest focus city, but the demand for this route (PHL to OAK) is probably very low) You had to travel there in order to finally end at your final destination because every Southwest destination cannot also have flights to every other Southwest destination. Some airlines might make you fly to MCO in order to get to OAK as MCO is one of their hubs/focus cities. And yes, a Boeing 737-300 has the range ability to fly PHL-OAK non-stop, but airlines just do not work that way. I hope that helps. By the way, if I were you, I would DEFINITELY be a flight attendant! Aviation and traveling are my two favourite hobbies, so that really is a 2 in 1 combination!

What's it like to be a flight attendant? How much time do you have? Do you like working long hours for little pay? Do you mind not getting a whole lot of rest? Putting up with cranky people (pilots, gate agents, TSA, and passengers?) The job is so polarizing. Some days you can't believe somebody is paying you to do this, and you feel lucky to have such a great job. Other days, you feel like you'd rather live on the streets than go to work for one more day. Travelling is great, makes ya really happy when you get home and see your bed after a few weeks! If you are interested, check it out. But do a lot of research, and make sure you know that it's not all that glamourous, and it's a JOB!
