Hotwire or Priceline?
I am booking a flight/hotel stay in Las Vegas (from Oakland, CA) in the next month or so; which of the two sites is better if you want to save some $$?

neither! Use mobissimo.com or sidestep.com.

these type of sites put you through a lot of hassle to earn that discount. I've found going directly to the airline's site you get better deals. i have no experience with either so...

The best deal from Oakland to Vegas will have to be Southwest airlines Vacation, United Airlines Vacation or book your hotel directly using promo codes. Here are a few http://www.lasvegas-how-to.com/special.html

I would do price comparison, and even consider dealing directly with the property you will be staying and the airlines as well. I saved money doing it all separate. I have also heard many complaints on the tripadvisor website of people who say they are treated poorly sometimes because they booked outside of the property. For instance if they have some issue at check in, or with the rate or something, the hotel is less likely to help you. Never experienced this personally, though. I have booked travel both ways. So just go with the best rate and double check the properties themselves before booking a combo at priceline or hotwire or what have you. Oh and please check this website, it combines all the "coupon codes" that all the hotels and shows are offering, all in one spot, so try to surf around here before booking anything! http://www.smartervegas.com
