Baggage and changing planes?
When I do fly, I always choose nonstop. Unfortunately I have a flight coming up on Southwest and I need to change planes. I go from Portland, Oregon and change planes in Oakland, then I fly on to Las Vegas. What do I do about my baggage? Is it moved for me, and what do I do when I get off my plane in Oaklan, do I have to go BACK thru security?

When you get off the plane in Oakland, you shouldn't have to go through security again. You will already be in the area past security. If you are flying on the same airline both legs of the flight and you booked it together all at once then your checked bags will be transfered for you. All you need to worry about is your carry on luggage until you reach your final destination.

are both flights on southwes?t you dont say if they are then you are okay southwest will transfer your bags to the other flight however is one of your flights is NOT on southwest then you ill have to claim your bags at the end of the southwest flight and recheck them with the other carrier then re clear security (you see southwest doesnt not inter-line with other carriers

You will be just fine, you just keep your overhead bags if any with you, then the luggage which is stowed underneath the plane will automatically be moved and taken to your next flight before you even board that plane. You do not need to go through any security because when you land in Oakland to change planes you will already be past security so all you need to do is just find the gate of the flight that you will be taking to Las Vegas and you will be just fine. Have a good and safe trip!

your bags will be transferred to your next flight leg. however, speaking from experience, sometimes they dont get on the same plan as you. make sure if your bags dont show up with you at your final destination that you take your ticket stubs to the carrier so they can locate your luggage. they will deliver it to you.
