Is Alaska Air becoming like Southwest Air in terms of quality?
Last week I flew from Burbank,CA to Seattle,WA on Alaska Air. The flight both ways was operated in a Boeing 737-800. The flight was 30-40 minutes late both ways and there was nothing served except drinks and stale pretzels. The plane was comfortable, clean and new. The flight attendants were friendly. Serving only drinks and pretzels reminds me of Southwest Airlines. Ten years ago I flew on this same flight and was served a hot meal and a cookie in economy class. The meal was either a burger or a chicken sandwhich with fries. At least I came prepared with my own sandwhich. If someone pays $400 roundtrip for a 3 hour flight an airline should provide more than drinks. I could have flown Southwest and made a plane change in Oakland,CA both ways and I would have paid $240 roundtrip. On this Alaska flight even the first class passengers didn't get a meal. This Alaska flight had no inflight entertainment either. I guess Alaska is trying to copy Southwest and become a bus with wings.

No. Alaska Airlines has always sucked. I lived in Alaska for 30 years and when I could get the flight on United or Continental, I always did; even when the price was a little more. Alaska airlines has always been the least comfort in flight companies.

That's generally the state of the airlines nowadays, all airlines especially domestic ones flying routes within the US. Even a cross country flight from California to Florida or New York will get you about same amount of meals, which is none. I feel your pain, but it's time to live with the reality and deal with it. Bring your own food, or eat your meals just before/after your flights.
