What Justifies Racial Targetting by Airlines... ?
[NEW YORK (AFP) – An airline passenger forced to cover his T-shirt because it displayed Arabic script has been awarded 240,000 dollars in compensation, campaigners said Monday. Jarrar, a US resident, was apprehended as he waited to board a JetBlue flight from New York to Oakland, California, and told to remove his shirt, which had written on it in Arabic: "We will not be silent." Jarrar eventually agreed to cover his shirt with another provided by JetBlue. He was allowed aboard but his seat was changed from the front to the back of the aircraft.] Question: was the airline company right or wrong? what can the airline companies do to ensure our safety? support your answer. well, moxie, it was pretty much ripped right from Yahoo's headline. what's there is pretty much what happened. so are we saying that the 1st amendment is a choice- not a right? we cannot say or wear something that just might offend someone? if that's the case, someone everywhere finds other people clothing offensive every day. i'm just saying. i don't know, i think freedom of speech was supposed to protect us from stuff like this. just because i do not agree with what he wore (which i could kick his muslim ass for it), i cannot say that he was breaking any laws.

That was right for all the right reasons. It does not matter if your arabic, american, hispanic, European, or whatever. When you wear anything that can be seen as a threat then it needs to be dealt with. Last time i checked the airplane is not a model runway so WHO CARES what you wear on the plane. Whether it be a airlines t-shirt to a sweatshirt. People should know what is allowed and not allowed on a airplane and these clowns trying to test the system should be revoked to fly. The last thing this country is another terriost attack and another war.

What justifies racial targeting? Two large buildings in NYC that are no longer there. I don't know if what was done was right. On the surface, I have no problem with it. If they are allowed to arrest you for even joking about a bomb or a threat, then this action is not out of line. But, I do not know the details of the case and I will not make a decision based on 8 lines of text.
